Tip #7 – Exercise your Brain

Eat right + Exercise = Healthy Body. But what about exercising your brain? If you want to stave off Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, then it’s time to put your brain through its paces.

Activities that force you to use your brain to learn something new or make decisions increase blood flow to the brain, strengthening neural pathways, and develop new pathways. As the blood flows through the brain, it sends more nutrients to the cells, essentially keeping them healthier and younger.

So, if you want to have a young, quick, and active mind, at any age, try some of the following brain activities, and make sure to include them everyday:

  • crossword puzzles
  • sudoku
  • word searches
  • computer games (Brain Age)
  • learn a new sport
  • knit
  • make origami
  • study a new language
  • Ballroom dancing
  • Draw or paint
